Our most basic class is the Motorcycle
Safety Foundation's DirtBike School. The only prerequisite is that all
participants MUST be able to ride a two wheeled bicycle, without assistance.
This class is about seven hours long :
- In hot weather the class takes place in two days, Part One is conducted
in the evening, Part Two is conducted the following morning.
- From October through March, the basic class is usually
conducted in a single day. A lunch break will be provided
We Supply:
- a training motorcycle
- a full-coverage helmet
- goggles
- gloves
You are responsible for:
- Over-the-ankle footwear, must be both sturdy and protective, with
a low heel, many types of hiking boots work quite well.
- Sturdy, long, pants
- A long-sleeved shirt or jacket
- Working hard and having fun!
What we will cover:
- Basic pre-ride preparation: motorcycle prep and appropriate riding
gear selection.
- Mounting and dismounting, starting and stopping the engine.
- Riding
posture, seated and standing
- Straight line riding
- Shifting and Braking
- Turning and Cornering
- Crossing obstacles and riding up, across, and downhill
- Rider Responsibility: How to have fun without getting hurt!
